What Inspired Dr. Duarte to Become an Orthodontist?

Dr. Maria Eduarda Duarte has always felt called to healthcare. Raised by parents devoted to caring for others, a physician father and a nurse mother, she learned early on the power of compassion and service.

Her passion for orthodontics was shaped personally during her own treatment in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she saw firsthand how a healthy smile can build confidence and open doors. As a teenager, Dr. Duarte participated in community outreach alongside her parents and dentist, providing medical, nursing, and dental care to underserved families in Rocinha, one of Rio de Janeiro’s largest communities. These early experiences solidified her commitment to making a meaningful difference through orthodontic care.

She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Raoni, and values quality time with family and loved ones.
