Meet Dr. Robert “Ray” Caesar

How Did Dr. Caesar Become Part of Stone Oak Orthodontics?

Dr. Robert “Ray” Caesar’s journey with Stone Oak Orthodontics began in 2007, when he returned home to San Antonio after his first year of college. During that time, he spent just one week shadowing Dr. Tito Norris, a week that would shape the rest of his professional career.

That early experience sparked a lasting mentorship and a shared orthodontic philosophy rooted in precision, collaboration, and patient-centered care. Over the course of eight summers, Dr. Caesar trained closely with Dr. Norris, developing a deep understanding of the clinical principles and values that continue to guide Stone Oak Orthodontics today.

Driven by this foundation, Dr. Caesar pursued advanced orthodontic training at Howard University, where he was taught by the same biomechanics professor who trained Dr. Norris, further strengthening their shared clinical approach. During his residency, Dr. Caesar was recognized for his leadership and excellence, earning Resident of the Year and serving as Chief Resident for his graduating class.

Clinical Expertise & Philosophy

Since returning to San Antonio, Dr. Caesar has had a significant impact on how Stone Oak Orthodontics cares for patients. His advanced knowledge of airway-focused orthodontics has influenced how our doctors diagnose, treatment plan, and deliver care, especially for growing patients and those with breathing or sleep-related concerns.

Dr. Caesar and our doctors collaborate on every treatment plan, combining their shared training and experience to ensure each patient benefits from multiple expert perspectives. This team-based approach allows us to provide thoughtful, customized orthodontic care for the entire Stone Oak Orthodontics family.

Education & Professional Background

Dr. Caesar completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University, where he also represented the school as a center midfielder on the club soccer team, and became a lifelong Duke Basketball fan.

After earning his degree, he spent a year living abroad in Paris, France, gaining a global perspective before returning to Texas to attend the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. There, he graduated with Teaching Honors, reflecting his commitment to education and mentorship.

His interest in airway health began during dental school through research in orofacial myology, focusing on how tongue posture and function influence facial growth and development. That interest deepened through specialized training with an airway-focused dentist, shaping the comprehensive, airway-aware approach he brings to orthodontic care today.

Life Outside the Office

Outside the practice, Dr. Caesar enjoys traveling with his wife, Ashlee, and their son, Drew. As a family, they love staying active through hiking and water sports, often joined by their golden retriever, Jazz.

Dr. Caesar continues to play soccer, maintains a weekly yoga practice, and is a devoted fan of the San Antonio Spurs.

We are proud to have Dr. Robert “Ray” Caesar as part of the Stone Oak Orthodontics team and are honored to have his expertise, leadership, and passion shaping the care we provide every day.
